Description:
This is Paul Zink's MGB. His information is below, but the current status is that it is very rusty and patched together to make it road worthy. The engine is a 18V low compression standard engine after the previous engines developed rod knocks. The car is running but needs lots of work. It could be a driver or a parts car. Only the first picture represents the are it is today. The race engine is being sold separately for $500, but it needs the crank ground and rods resized. The block is a 1968 5 Main and the head is a 1969 with some intake porting. The pistons are flat topped (no dish at all). The lifters show some spalling, so, don't know condition of cam. From Paul's original description:1970 MGB Roadster (Tourer) purchased by me from Blackmore & Jones Motors, Topanga Canyon Blvd, Canoga Park, CA, in April 1990. Car had been resprayed Tartan Red and refitted with Mk. 1-style seats and interior panels. Shipped to Boston, MA in June 1992 and modified to compete in SCCA Solo II Autocross, with lowering springs, telescopic shocks, lower control arms, Nylatron bushings, negative-camber A-arms, ADDCO solid 3/4-inch anti-roll bar, Corbeau GTA seat with 4-point harness, etc. etc. Original motor was damaged beyond repair, and car was re-engined with a motor commissioned from Bob Kilpatrick of Former Glory Racing, New Haven, Connecticut, to the following specs: .040 overbore, balance reciprocating parts (crank, clutch assembly, flywheel, con rods), lightened flywheel and con rods, high-compression flat-top pistons; shaved head with port-matched intake/exhaust, bronze valve guides, larger Rimflow valves, fast road cam with stiffer valve springs, 9.4�1 compression ratio (approx.).
